Moustafa Sallam from Ventor was found guilty of fraud at Portsmouth Crown Court after creating a make-believe couple before killing them off in an imaginary bus crash. He was sentenced to three-and-a-half imprisonment.
According to information, Moustafa used real death certificates to concoct a story about the couple dying in Egypt, after which he claimed an amount of £2.5 million from the insurance company.
The insurance company became suspicious after Moustafa submitted a number of claims and their investigation lead to his arrest and conviction.
