The National Enquirer and many other news media reports fell victim to a hoax that involves Pop Star Britney Spears and her ex-brother-in-law Christopher Federline.
The real truth behind the alleged fraud suit is this: Jonathan Lee Riches, a 35-year-old convicted felon, is the person behind the hoax, and many other famous and notorious frauds including one where he claimed to be Sandy Hook Elementary shooter Adam Lanza’s uncle, Jonathan Lanza, and posed as Selena Gomez’ father.
According to the various reports - now confirmed as hoax - Spears had been accused by her former brother-in-law of committing fraud by charging more than $4,500 on his credit card and blackmailing him to keep quiet about the affair by revealing the truth of Sean Preston’s paternity.
Riches, a famous credit card fraudster, was arrested last week for a federal probation violation charge and was taken into the Chester County jail. He had been released earlier in April and was on court-ordered probation after he spent a decade behind bars for wire fraud and conspiracy. There is no record as to when he will appear in court for a probation revocation hearing.
